Tsunami 101

Tsunami 101 Community Roadshow

Join us on June 9th starting at 5:30 pm at the Florence Events Center for a free, two-hour session of expert-driven discussion and practical steps you can take to stay safe before, during, and after a disaster!

The City of Florence and Lane County Emergency Management has partnered with The Oregon Department of Emergency Management (OEM), Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI), and the National Weather Service (NWS) to provide a comprehensive overview of earthquakes and tsunamis. This session will feature expert-led presentations on the science behind earthquakes and tsunamis, how alerts are triggered and broadcasted, and what you can do now to be better prepared when a disaster strikes.

There will be time for questions and open discussion after the presentations—so bring your curiosity and take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the experts and connect with the people working to keep Oregon safe.
