City Council Meeting Amended Public Hearing Processes due to COVID-19

On Monday April 20, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. the Florence City Council will hold a its regularly scheduled meeting including two public hearings related to:

  1. FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map and Study;
  2. Treewood Court Annexation & Zone Change.

Given recent executive orders from Governor Brown concerning COVID-19 and social distancing requirements, the protocols for providing public input for City Council meetings have been updated. Interested citizens who would like to view and listen to the City Council meeting may do so via live broadcast on Charter Cable Channel 191 or web broadcast at www.ci.florence.or.us/citymanager/public-meetings-live.

Those interested in providing testimony during the public hearings may do so via one of the following methods:

  1. Written Testimony: It is STRONGLY encouraged that interested parties provide testimony in writing prior to the meeting in one of the following ways:
    1. Submit written comments via email to the City Recorder.
    2. Mail written comments to Florence City Hall, Attn: City Council, 250 Hwy 101, Florence, OR 97439
    3. Drop off written comments at the City of Florence drop box located at Florence City Hall (250 Hwy 101) to the right of the main entrance.

All written testimony received at least 2 hours prior to the Council meeting (April 20, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.) will be distributed to the City Council and made part of the record.

  1. Conference Call: Should it be necessary to provide verbal testimony; interested parties can participate via a conference call line. To do so please complete a speaker’s card online HERE at least 2 hours prior to the start of the meeting (April 20, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.). Speaker’s cards must indicate your desire to participate in the meeting via conference call and include the speaker’s name and phone number they seek to call into the meeting from. City staff will then contact the speaker to let them know the conference call line number and protocols.

If you do not have access to a phone or computer, the City will provide an opportunity to participate in the meeting at a specified location at Florence City Hall. Parties interested in attending in this manner must complete a speaker’s card online HERE or at Florence City Hall. Speaker’s cards are due at least 5 minutes prior to the meeting’s start time. To protect safety and ensure social distancing, space for in person speakers will be limited. Please note, that in person meeting attendance will be subject to applicable regulations in place at the time of the meeting, which are subject to change.
