SENIOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR

The City of Florence is accepting applications for a Senior Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our Public Works team!

Position Summary:

The Senior Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (WWTPO) is responsible for operating, monitoring, controlling, and maintaining the City of Florence’s Wastewater Treatment Facility, including all of the sewer lift stations, in accordance with NPDES and DEQ rules and regulations.  This position may act as the principal designated operator for the wastewater treatment plant.

The Senior WWTPO works under the general supervision of the Wastewater and Water Treatment Plant Superintendent. The Wastewater Treatment Facility is staffed by a crew of five operators, including the Senior WWTPO and the Superintendent, and a wastewater utility worker.

Qualifications:

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities include, but are not limited to:

¨ Operation and maintenance of equipment used in preliminary, primary, secondary, and solids treatment of wastewater.

¨ Monitoring and operation of the wastewater treatment process in accordance with permit and process control standards, including  sampling and testing.

¨ Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventative, reactive and routine mechanical repairs, replacements, and modifications.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree or two-year technical certificate in wastewater, or related subject with at least five years of experience at a Class III or higher wastewater treatment plant, including two years as an Operator III or in a lead role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
