City of Florence 2012 Water Quality Report

City of Florence 2012 Water Quality Report

City of Florence Public Works Director Mike Miller announced this week that the City’s 2012 Water Quality Report has been released.
“I’m happy to report that the City’s compliance with all state and federal drinking water standards remains exemplary,” said Miller.
As a water supplier, the City is required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide an annual Consumer Confidence Report. Commonly known as a Water Quality Report, it provides water quality data from January 1st to December 31st, 2012. The report also informs customers of the location of the City’s water sources, the City’s source water protection programs, if there are any contaminants in the drinking water as well as the water analyses undertaken to ensure that the water delivered is safe and of the highest quality.

In previous years, regulations required that the City mail copies of the Water Quality Report to all of its customers. Recent changes in the rules, however, now allow water suppliers to post the report online or send it electronically. City water customers were notified in their June bills that this year’s report would be available online.

“The changes in the law have not only saved the City money, but has also allowed us to be able to expand the information in this year’s report,” said Miller. “In addition to the legally required language, we have added a chart on our dunal aquifer system, information regarding the City’s efforts to protect the aquifer as well as water conservation tips.”

The 2012 City of Florence Water Quality Report was released on June 15th on the City of Florence website in a downloadable PDF. Paper copies will only be mailed by request or a copy can be picked up at the Public Works building at 989 Spruce Street or City Hall at 250 Highway 101.

“We are proud of the high quality of our water supply, which consistently meets or exceeds all state and federal water requirements,” said Miller. “That quality is a direct result of the hard work the Public Works staff puts in to make sure we are providing residents and business with top quality water service.”
