Sex Offenders

The general public can receive a list of registered sex offenders for their city, county or zip code by sending an email to sexoffender.questions@state.or.us or by calling (503) 378-3725 Ext. 44429. OSP Sex Registration Unit will send the lists electronically so there should be a quick turn-around time. The OSP Sex Registration Unit is working to expand the list to include a thumbnail photo.

Oregon law is very specific about release of information on persons under supervision for their first sex crime. As listed in ORS 181.592, information is limited and can only be released if the information is requested by name only. We hope to expand the query system on the public site to include a name search but because of statutory limitations, the name will have to be exact with no soundex searches.

Information on sex offenders is no harder to come by than information on any other group of persons with criminal convictions. The legislature determined in 2005 that only the persons who present the highest risk to the public will be listed on the internet. City and county law enforcement groups are limited, again in ORS 181.592, to release of information upon request and face the same limitations on offenders under supervision for their first sex crime.

To check for predatory sex offenders living in areas out of the City of Florence, you check the Oregon State Police Sex Offender Inquiry System. This inquiry system is for the State of Oregon only.

Sex Offenders seeking to comply with their registration may contact the Oregon State Police at (503) 378-3725 Ext. 44429 for assistance.

The Oregon State Police, Sex Offender Registration Unit, tracks registration of persons convicted of sex crimes who reside, work or attend school within the State of Oregon. The Unit is the state repository for information within the state, encompassing adult and juvenile offenders.

Persons may also check for the National Sex Offender Public Website for locations outside of the State of Oregon, but within the United States. The Florence Police Department is not responsible for any content listed on either of these websites.

THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO PREDATORY SEX OFFENDERS LIVING IN THE CITY OF FLORENCE.
