The City of Florence, Oregon, located on the beautiful Central Oregon coast, is accepting applications for the position of Police Chief. Salary range: $73,000 - $96,000, DOQ, includes generous benefits package. The Police Chief administers, plans, and directs the operations of the Police Department and an 18-cell municipal jail, integrating a community-oriented policy and problem solving philosophy.

Successful candidates will have a four-year degree from an accredited university, preferably in law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration, or related field; and at least six years of law enforcement experience with at least three years in an administration/management position. Preference will be given to those candidates having completed on-going law enforcement or related training either within an established college degree program or through law enforcement training schools, such as the FBI National Academy (FBINA), the Southern Police Institute (SPI), or the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. Must not have been absent from full-time law enforcement for more than two years prior to assumption of this position.
