Miscellaneous FAQs
My car has been impounded. How do I get it back?
You are required to bring in the “Impounded Vehicle Notice” along with $100.00 cash, certified check, or money order, title or registration on the car, proof of liability insurance on the car, and your valid drivers license to the Florence Justice Center. When all items are found in order you will be provide a vehicle release for you to go to wherever you vehicle may be stored, pay any storage fees to the tow operator, and retrieve your vehicle.
Should you have any questions in regard to this process, please contact any on duty communications officer at the Florence Justice Center at 541-997-3515.
I sold a car to a person and they have not paid me. What recourse do I have?
This is a civil matter and something the Florence Police Department would not get involved with. You should contact your attorney and seek their advice and counsel.
What can be done about unsightly homes, yards, or other nuisances?
When the Code Enforcement Officer receives a complaint about a nuisance or unsightly/unsafe condition, an investigation will be performed. If it is determined that the conditions are in violation of City Code, the property owner will be notified. The goal of the Code Enforcement program is to obtain voluntary compliance. If violations are found to exist and if the violations are not corrected within a reasonable time frame, enforcement action may be taken in the Florence Municipal Court. The City can also pursue measures to abate the violation at the property owner's expense.
What is the City of Florence's noise ordinance?
As a general rule, “excessive” noise is prohibited between the hours of 10PM and 7AM. There are some exemptions to this ordinance. Florence City Code 6-1-2-3 contains the complete ordinance language. If you believe you are experiencing noise in violation of this section, please contact the Florence Police Department at 541-997-3515 and an officer will contact you.
