Feb. 4, 2013 Port of Siuslaw Wharf Improvement Project update

Port of Siuslaw Manager, Robert Forsythe, announced in-water work on the Wharf Improvement Project will be finished by Tuesday, 15 February.  The entire project is scheduled for completion in March of 2013.

Legacy Contracting, Inc., of Stayton, has been installing new pile on the river side of the wharf for the past few weeks.  Today they will complete pile driving of eleven piling that are being placed through the wharf, and will have just five more new pile to install for the project.  Legacy has also been removing old pile as part of the mitigation required for the Wharf Improvement project.  They will finish pulling old piling by Tuesday.

Some boats moored in the commercial basin at the Port will be temporarily relocated to allow Legacy to move a barge into place next to ICM Restaurant.  Plumbing and electrical work on the wharf is underway as well.  Legacy plans to continue working between 6am and 7pm, Monday through Friday, depending on tide and weather conditions.

Both Legacy Contracting and the Port of Siuslaw appreciate the public's patience and cooperation during this needed infrastructure improvement project.   Pedestrian access to the wharf and transient vessel dock surrounding the wharf will continue to be redirected as needed during the project to ensure public safety.  The Port's tenants on the wharf, ICM Restaurant and Mo's Restaurant, are expected to remain open for business throughout the project.

Regular project announcements will be posted on the Port's website, www.portofsiuslaw.com, and Facebook pages.   Any questions should be directed to the Port office at 541-997-3426 or email port@portofsiuslaw.com.
