The City of Florence is accepting applications for a Police Officer to join our Police Department! This position is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position. This position is represented by Florence Police Employees Association. The City of Florence is switching to year-round recruitment (working from a list). That means you will always be able to apply for this position, however, we may not have have positions currently open.

Current Status (updated July 1, 2019)

The City will accept applications through July 12, 2019 at 4:00pm PST for this application cycle. The City will administer a Police Officer Selection Test (POST) on July 19, 2019 at 10am for selected applicants. To be considered for the POST, you must submit your completed, signed application by July 12 at 4:00pm.

Additionally, there is one (1) full-time position available. We are working on our schedules to confirm oral board interview dates, but it will be within two (2) weeks of giving the POST, with the Chief's final interview to follow the week after. This means we are looking to have the offer made by the end of the first full week of August.

We will create a ranked list from this recruitment that shall be valid for six (6) months from July 19, 2019 for future openings. After that, you will need to fully reapply if you have not been selected or communicated otherwise.

(updated May 21, 2019) - The City is still accepting applications and will conduct a Police Officer Selection Test in June (date, tbd). As of May 21, there is no open position available, but we will still conduct testing and interviews to create a ranked list of applicants for a future opening. This list will be valid for six (6) months from the date of testing.

If you applied prior to January 2, 2019 and were not selected and did not fail to complete or successfully pass the background, you should receive an email informing you about testing. If you applied after January 3, 2019, you will receive an email informing you about testing.

***Applications received after July 1, 2019 may be asked to reapply under the new HR software system that will go live in July.

(updated February 26, 2019)- We have filled our recent vacancies. We are still accepting applications for the year and if a vacancy becomes available after May 2019, we will resume active recruitment.

*If you applied after January 3, 2019, we still have your application and we will email you in May to conduct testing in May/June 2019.

*If you applied in December 2018 or earlier January 2019, and were told you are not longer under consideration, you are not eligible to apply again until June 1, 2019.

Please note, that just because you made it to a certain stage of the process last recruitment, you are not guaranteed any interview this time around. We evaluation all applicants based on experience and we may receive different candidates this time around that we feel are better suited for the position, which means you may not receive a callback for an interview if you did last time.
