How do I apply for a position with the City of Florence?

Effective September 2, 2019, the City of Florence Human Resources Department enhanced our employment application and job posting notification process to an online eRecruit process. Paper applications are no longer accepted as applications for positions. Any previously submitted application will not be considered going forward, unless the applicant has already been informed that they are on an eligibility list.

For information on how to apply, please view: https://www.governmentjobs.com/home/applicationguide#apply-for-a-job#

The enhanced system allows job seekers to:

  • Search and apply for jobs 24/7 (anytime).
  • Apply from any location with Internet access (i.e. libraries, home, etc.)
  • Apply for multiple jobs or new jobs without re-entering application information.
  • Receive automatic receipts instantly on screen and by e-mail-each time they apply.
  • View updates on application status.
  • Register to receive automatic notification of positions that you are interested in.

Job seekers who do not have a computer may use computers available at local libraries, career centers, or through friends or relatives. An email address is required to apply for positions.  If you do not have a current email address, you can sign up for email via one of the free sites (i.e. Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail). It only takes a few minutes to register.

To apply for current job postings, create an online profile and submit an application via the ‘Job Openings’ link.

City job openings are posted on this website, advertised in the Siuslaw News, and announced through other media when appropriate. If the City has an opening, applicants must complete and submit an official city employment application form, on or before the closing date. Applications are only accepted for positions that are currently open. Any materials received not associated with an application will not be retained.

Note: A job application is an important reflection on you. Make sure you emphasize the relevant knowledge, skills, abilities, and employment experiences that best prepare you for the type of work for which you are applying. Review the documents you are submitting and ensure correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
