March 24, 2020 Planning Commission Meeting Updated Procedures

On Tuesday March 24, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. the City of Florence Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider the following actions:

  • PC 19 27 ANN 01 & PC 19 28 ZC 01 – 4781 Treewood Ct. Annexation & Zone Assignment
    A request from Andy Johnson, on behalf of Kristy L. Nye, to annex a .29-acre property and apply City of Florence Medium Density Residential zoning. The property is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Rhododendron Drive and Treewood Court.
  • Ordinance No. 2, Series 2020
    An amendment to Florence City Code, Title 10 Chapter 2 and Florence Realization 2020 Comprehensive Plan: Table of Contents, Introduction, Chapter 7, and Appendix 7a to adopt revised Federal Emergency Management Agency Flood Insurance Rate Map and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and a housekeeping amendment to the Comprehensive Plan Table of Contents to reflect updated plans and maps previously adopted or acknowledged.

Given recent executive orders from Governor Brown concerning COVID-19 and social distancing requirements, the March 24, 2020 Planning Commission meeting will occur via a conference call and be shown live on Charter Cable Channel 191 and live streamed online HERE.

It is strongly encouraged that the public not attend the meeting in person. To protect safety and ensure social distancing, only a limited number of audience members will be allowed to attend the meeting. In person meeting attendance will be subject to applicable regulations in place at the time of the meeting, which are subject to change.

Those interested in providing testimony at the March 24, 2020 Planning Commission meeting may do so in one of the following methods:

  1. Providing written testimony prior to the meeting by…
    • Emailing testimony to planningdepartment@ci.florence.or.us;
    • Mailing written testimony to Florence City Hall, Attn: Planning Department, 250 Hwy 101, Florence, OR 97439
    • Dropping off written testimony to the City of Florence drop box located at Florence City Hall (250 Hwy 101) to the right of the main entrance.
    • All written testimony received will be distributed to the Planning Commission and made part of the meeting record.
  2. Participating via conference call by completing a speaker’s card available online HERE at least 2 hours prior to the start of the meeting (3.24.20 at 3:30 p.m.). Speaker's cards must indicate your desire to participate in the meeting via conference call and include the speaker's name and phone number they seek to call in from. The Planning Department or other applicable staff will then contact the speaker to let them know the conference call line number and protocols.

As a last option for those not able to participate in one of those two methods, the opportunity will still exist to participate in the meeting at Florence City Hall (250 Hwy 101). Parties interested in attending in person must complete a speaker's card available online HERE or at least 5 minutes prior to the meeting's start time. To protect safety and ensure social spacing only a limited number of audience members will be allowed to attend the meeting at any one time. Should it be necessary, opportunities to listen to the meeting will be provided for any necessary overflow areas. Please note that in person meeting attendance will be subject to applicable regulations in place at the time of the meeting, which are subject to change.
