SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING OFFICERS
On Wednesday, May 25, 2011, shortly after 8:00 pm an officer from the Florence Police Department responded to a call of a suspicious person believed to be intoxicated harassing people on the Port of Siuslaw docks. This person was also getting on various boats tied up in the slips. The subject was gone upon the arrival of the officer. Subsequently just prior to 11:00 pm officers from the Florence Police Department responded to a call of the same person from the earlier call was vandalizing property on the docks of the Port of Siuslaw. Upon arrival the officers began talk with witnesses when they heard a mail voice screaming and yelling at them from a nearby boat two slips away.
Officers encountered a person subsequently identified as Kim T. Eno, 57 years of age, of Florence, in the doorway of the cab of a boat which was not his. Eno appeared to be intoxicated. Officers attempted to approach Eno, but he stepped back into the cab of the boat and closed the door. Ignoring commands from the officers to step out of the cab of the boat, officers entered and attempted to take him into custody. During that time he subject actively resisted the officers and attempted to hit and kick them.
Tasers were deployed, but without success. An officer used an ASP (expandable metal baton) and made approximately three strikes on Eno which ended the fight and permitted the officers to be able to get Eno into custody. Eno received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The officers received minor injuries.
Eno was transported to the Florence Justice Center and lodged in jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Mischief I, Assault of a Public Safety Officer (2 counts), Offensive Littering, and Resisting Arrest and his bail has been set at $140,000 and is pending transportation to Lane County Jail
