Reduction of Code Enforcement Services

New Code Enforcement Officer Sarah Huff

REDUCTION OF CODE ENFORCEMENT SERVICES IN FLORENCE

On Monday, June 20, Code Enforcement Officer Brandon Ott was promoted to and sworn in as the City of Florence’s newest police officer. This action results in the Code Enforcement Officer position becoming vacant. The approved budget for the City of Florence results in the reduction of two full-time equivalent employees from the City’s total personal services expenses in the next fiscal year beginning July 1, 2011.

This vacant Code Enforcement Officer position will be reduced to slightly less than half-time. Police Administrative Assistant Sarah Huff, who is also a Reserve Police Officer, will assume the title and duties of this part-time position on a one year trial basis. This will be accomplished by reallocating some of her current administrative duties to others in the Police Department and at City Hall.

Code Enforcement Officer Huff will handle Code Enforcement duties beginning immediately. The work schedule, for these duties, inclusive of her lunch period, will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 am – 5 pm. On Friday her schedule will be 11 am – 4 pm. People with complaints should contact Code Enforcement Officer Huff during these times. With the reduction of this position to 19 hours per week, citizens may experience delays in a response to complaints of code violations.
